About Us

For thirty years I have been passionate about alpines and bulbs, growing many in pots and in the garden.  I get a buzz from raising plants from seed and many of those pictured and offered here have been raised that way.

I have exhibited at Alpine Garden Society shows and written articles for their quarterly bulletin and for the Scottish Rock Garden Club.  I enjoy giving illustrated lectures on alpines and bulbs ... to anyone who will listen!

For indoor gardening I have long enjoyed growing gesneriads and now have a large collection.

I am not running a nursery, nor do I have the kind of garden that attracts many visitors although I am happy to show people round by arrangement.  A member of Plant Heritage, for twenty years I held one of the National Collections of Species Crocus.  The bulbs, corms and seed offered for sale are mostly in very small quantities.  The venture simply aims to cover the costs of my hobby.

Other interests:

Steam Trains - especially the Talyllyn Railway in North Wales where I have volunteered on and off for forty years, moving to Tywyn in 2019.  I now work for the railway mostly in catering
